Byzantium Icons [br] Orthodox Christian

The roots of icon painting come from early Christianity, but took more definite shapes and forms at the time of medieval Byzantium (East Roman Empire, 395. - 1453. A.D.). During this era, certain canons (rules) in icon painting appeared which adhere to every iconographer and were transmitted for generations from master to the student. The basic unwritten rule is that an icon should be a pattern of particular original icon which limits (or absolutely excludes) the imagination, but not the mastery of the artist. The icon does not always have the correct perspective (sometimes it has an inverse perspective), sometimes it represents the illogical space to enable figure domination and contains symbols that in a visual way of learning represents Byzantine Church (East Roman, Orthodox Christian). Gold as the material is a symbol of truth, because the gold and truth are immutable. Icons are made by the techniques of the old masters of icon painting in the Byzantine style. Painted on particularly prepared lime board, with classic, early ages, egg tempera (pigments and egg yolk as a binder) and with gilding made of 24-carat gold leaf or “slagmetal” (substitute for gold). Icons are protected by varnish.
The price depends on the type of timber, dimensions of gilding, performances to reflect on and number of characters. They are produced by order.
